The "grandmother" slices are cut by us in large blocks of 17Kg resulting from the saponification in the cauldron.
They are used against muscle cramps (thanks to their soda concentration) by placing them under the mattress cover. The 'grandmother' slices are renowned as an excellent moth repellent: place the slice in the middle of the laundry or hung in the cupboard.
