The "grandmother" slices are cut by us in large bars of 4Kg resulting from the saponification in the cauldron.
They are often used against muscle cramps (thanks to their soda concentration) by placing them under the mattress cover. The 'grandmother' slices are also renowned as an excellent moth repellent: place the slice in the middle of the laundry or hung in the cupboard.
